Children’s Choir Sings Chilling “When You Believe” & The Location They Chose Will Move You

It’s truly magnificent when people lend their talents to honor the memory of fallen soldiers and victims of war.

This stunning rendition of “When You Believe,” a song from the film The Prince of Egypt, will most likely move you to tears based solely on the sheer beauty of the angelic voices of the children who sing it. But when you find out why they’re singing the song, and where they’re singing it, you’ll be running for the Kleenex box.

The One Voice Children’s Choir is a non-profit organization comprised of children ages four through seventeen who live in Northern Utah. The group recently traveled to Omaha Beach and Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial in Normandy, France in order to perform this song dedicated to the soldiers who fought in World War II, as well as honoring the millions of Jewish victims who died during the Nazi Holocaust.
The choir performs the stirring song while standing on the very sands where the D-Day Invasion took place on June 6, 1944.  While the beaches of Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword Beaches look beautiful and inviting, it’s impossible not to think of the blood spilled there as Allied forces fought to gain a foothold in Continental Europe against the Nazis.
To illustrate that, while time eases the pain of loss, we never forget those who have fought for our freedoms and the lives that were lost, the children’s choir sang this song in English, Hebrew, and French. Conductor Masa Fukuda arranged and produced this amazing rendition of the song.

Here is a sampling of the song’s uplifting lyrics:

There can be miracles
When you believe
Though hope is frail
It’s hard to kill
Who knows what miracles
You can achieve
When you believe
Somehow you will
You will when you believe

With its soaring aerial photography and beautifully costumed child vocalists, the video is truly a joy to behold! It has currently been viewed over 3 million times on YouTube, and we hope you’ll find it as inspirational as we did!

Mom Sends Son A Picture Of His Dog Every Day For The Sweetest Reason

Being separated from your family is never easy, but thanks to technology, there are more ways to stay in touch than ever before.

Imgur user Baja29reallyiam2 recently shared a series of heartwarming images that helped her son stay connected with his loved ones while he was away at school for a year. He’d worked hard to earn the privilege of having a dog, so he was crushed to think that he wouldn’t see his sweet pup every day. To soften the blow, Mom decided to send him a picture of the dog every single day for almost 300 days.

Naturally, the resulting photos are adorable.

Mom shared dozens of sweet pictures along with cheerful captions, and each photo is better than the last. Who wouldn’t love receiving a “dog-a-day” message? I mean, where do I sign up?!

“My husband made my son walk a leash around the block twice a day for an entire year in order to earn the privilege of having a dog,” Baja29reallyiam2 explained.

My son was quite tenacious and never missed a day. My husband learned never Make a Deal with someone unless you’re willing to follow through with the terms.

So, when it came time for him to go to school overseas he was so heartbroken and missed his pup so much. So I sent him a picture everyday to cheer him up. These are just a few excerpts from our year. He just returned home and the dog did remember him.

After nearly 300 days of being away from her bestie, the sweet dog was ready for some quality time with her favorite human.

Baja29reallyiam2 followed up her post with some sweet pictures of the joyful reunion between her son and his beloved dog. You can tell the dog really did recognize her friend, and the way the young man looks at his dog is priceless.

me home! Your dog (and your mom!) clearly missed you dearly.

Traits That Make A Woman Beautiful (And They Have Nothing To Do With Looks)

Some people think that looks are really important, but the truth is that looks can – most of the times – be deceiving. We fail to become better persons because we are too busy improving our appearance, when, in reality, it’s our personality which will lead us to fulfilment.Women are tend to focus on their looks slightly more than men. What needs to be understood is that a woman, just like a man, can be really attractive, even if she’s not the prettiest girl in the world. Here are 11 traits that can make a woman beautiful:

1) Honesty

Honesty is one of the most important qualities for a woman to have. I can promise that if there’s one sure-fire waste of time in life, it’s strapping yourself to a liar. The thing about lying is that one lie can quickly lead to zero truth. Finding a girl who’s honest will provide a man with someone to trust and, more importantly, to trust in. There’s nothing more attractive than the latter.

2) Independence

A woman who is independent is a woman who doesn’t need a man by her side. She chooses to be with someone and that’s a different thing. But this woman values her job, her friends and her life in general as much as she values relationships. Sometimes, even more than that. No body wants a woman that is dependent on of them to do things. It’s important for a woman to be able to take care of herself. It’s also nice for a man to know that he can spend some guy time or alone time while his girlfriend is doing exactly the same thing.

3) Sense of humour

Who said that only men should have a good sense of humour? Women can be funny too. And there’s nothing more gorgeous than a hilarious woman! It’s nice for a man to be beside a woman who doesn’t take herself too seriously. Someone who isn’t afraid to be goofy. If a girl can make you laugh, what’s not to be attracted to? Wit is one of the most enjoyable forms of humour because it actually provokes thought. A woman who’s witty won’t need to constantly put people down to get a rise out of you, and that’s always attractive. Men want a woman who’s their conversation partner, not just an adoring fan.

4) Understanding

Understanding is a trait that’s really important for every healthy relationship. That’s why men tend to choose women who can understand them. A caring woman is not necessarily weak. On the contrary, she can love deeply and strongly. That’s what every single person looks for in the world: another person who can understand them.

5) Originality

There isn’t one way to be original. It might be her style or her love for new adventurous. The thing is that this girl is never boring. Originality is the anti-basic, the anti-boring. Originality is what will keep you guessing, and when a girl is truly original, this quality will constantly be reappearing in new, different ways. One thing is certain; this girl knows how to have fun.

6) Kindness

True kindness really is rare these days. Sure, you get people who are nice to those who hold some sort of value to them, but how many people do you meet every day that would go and talk to the lone stranger crying in the street? Men don’t want to be with a person that’s just nice to them, their friends, and their family. They want a person who can brighten up their day by brightening up the lives of everyone she comes in contact with. Kindness is vital within relationships to soften disagreements, there is nothing less attractive to a man than being constantly harshly berated and belittled by a woman, after all we are all human and have failings and shortcomings, the use of kindness in such situations helps to remind us we are all special unique individuals worthy of love, compassion and when needed, forgiveness.

7) Passion

It’s inspirational when anyone is really into something. Whether it’s a cause, a hobby or a job, seeing what gets a lady fired-up makes her more attractive (unless it’s dog fighting). Another thing that’s important: hobbies. Women with hobbies are sexy, even if those hobbies are, I don’t know, stamp-collecting. It doesn’t really matter. All hobbies come from a place of passion, and when looking for a woman to keep in your life – why not look for a passionate one?

8) Confidence

Physical attractiveness is only one side of the coin; mental attractiveness via confidence is the other. Combine an attractive women with confidence, and you have an unbeatable human being who can conquer the world and help you do the same. Confidence is one of the best—if not the best trait that a human can have. Confidence is a woman’s way of projecting that she knows exactly what she’s doing out in the world. She’s self-assured that she doesn’t give a shit what you or anyone else thinks. It also an instant reflection that she knows—and is ready to leverage—her intrinsically high value. Just like there’s nothing more attractive than a confident man, nothing can beat an attractive and confident woman.

9) Intelligence

It’s a myth that men prefer women who are naive or even stupid. Intelligence is sexy for both genders. Intelligent and clever men respect intelligent and clever women. A smart girl, a girl who knows what real life is all about is really, really attractive. Intelligence is possibly the most attractive quality you can find in a girl, even if it’s not accompanied by lots of college degrees.

10 Decisiveness

If there’s something that can piss off a man as much as an overly dependent or clingy woman, it’s a woman who can’t decide anything when faced with the most trivial choices, like picking a cheese in a supermarket. However, life decisions are far more important and that’s what I’m talking about: an attractive woman should have goals, should know what she wants from her life – and from her man as well. Goals show self-awareness. Setting goals shows that you know who you are today, and who you want to be, tomorrow. They also show that you’re ambitious, and mature enough to define your own wants from life – and yourself.

11) Loyalty

Loyalty is one of the best human traits. One can be loyal to a cause or to another person. One of the sexiest things that a woman can possess is loyalty to her man. That means she has values and is stands for something for concrete and static instead of blindly following her emotions for any new guy comes along, which doesn’t require much effort. Loyalty means she knows how to think logically instead of being held captive by her whimsical emotions.

Man Licked By Pet Pit Bull Has To Have Both Of His Legs And Nose Amputated

When most of us think of situations which could lead to losing a limb, extreme scenarios usually come to mind. I almost lost a finger when I was a kid after an attempt at feeding a horse a carrot went very, very wrong. Unfortunately, it thought my little fingers were a part of the snack and nearly pulled them clean off my hand. I’ve even got tooth-shaped scars to prove it.

My younger sister nearly lost a limb too – and it was also under extreme circumstances. She took a tumble on an ice rink and another skater mowed over her hand. It was a miracle that she only had to get stitches after the accident. But one man who actually lost limbs, Greg Manteufel, did so in the most innocuous way possible – after his beloved pet dog licked him.

Greg, who is from Wisconsin, fell ill shortly after he was licked by his pet pit bull, but he brushed off his symptoms as nothing more than the flu. However, when they worsened, it soon became apparent that something a lot more serious was going on.

The avid biker’s wife, Dawn, told Fox 6, that the then-mysterious illness “hit him with a vengeance” causing him to suffer from “bruising all over.” The bruising was so extreme that he was left looking “like somebody beat him up with a baseball bat.”

Then, just a week after being licked by his pooch, Greg had to have both of his legs and nose amputated.

Dawn, of West Bend, Wisconsin, said, “We can’t wrap our heads around it that all of the sudden, he’s 48 years old and been around dogs all of his life… and this happens.”

Horrifyingly, the affectionate lick from his pooch caused Greg to come into contact with the capnocytophaga bacteria, and he subsequently developed sepsis and lost blood circulation throughout his body.

Even though Greg never had a wound, the bacteria is found in dogs’ saliva. However, medics have said that it’s extremely rare for a person to develop sepsis from capnocytophaga when they have not been bitten.

Dr. Silvia Munoz-Price, a Wisconsin infectious disease expert, made a point of saying to Fox 6 that, “More than 99 percent of the people who have dogs will never have this issue.” He then added, “It’s just chance.”

After Greg lost blood circulation, doctors had no option but to amputate his legs and nose in an attempt to save his life.

While capnocytophaga can, in rare cases, be a deadly bacteria, its presence in the saliva of 60% of dogs and 17% of cats is, as Dr. Munoz pointed out, usually harmless. What happened to Greg was a freak occurrence.

There have only been 500 incidents of non-bite contact causing sepsis in humans in the US and Canada since 1976.

Recalling the tragic incident, Dawn continued, “[He] kept saying to the doctors – ‘Take what you need but keep me alive.’ And they did it. Surprisingly enough, they did do it.”

However, because Greg is now a double amputee, his life has changed beyond recognition. Since he contracted the illness in late June, Dawn is doing everything in her power to help him get prosthetic legs so that he can walk again.

No One Expected Jaw-Dropping Performance From Bizarre Singer, But She Delivered One

Even though we know not to judge someone based on their appearance, it’s natural to make a snap assumption about a person when they first step on a stage.

The audience at a taping of Ukrainian “X Factor” was blown away when 29-year-old Julia Ivanova showed up for her audition. With her flaming scarlet hair and leather-studded pantsuit, the young woman looked like a futuristic cross between Elvis Presley and Ariel from “The Little Mermaid.”

While some in the audience snickered at her ensemble, she quickly gave everyone in the crowd something else to talk about: her amazing talent!

Julia sang a cover of the famous Queen song “The Show Must Go On,” — and she totally nailed it. With vocals that were at times soft and other times loud and gritty, Julia certainly did Freddie Mercury proud!

Just a few moments into her performance, the crowd that had been giggling behind their hands were now standing up and clapping as hard as they could

The judges were astounded, too! Watch Julia’s star-making performance below, and don’t forget to share this video to spread the word about her incredible talent! She proves you can’t judge a book by its cover.

7 of the Most F*cked Up Japanese Game Shows

If you like humiliation and degradation, you’ll love Japanese game shows! On literally every Japanese game show, contestants are made to quietly endure shameful tasks. Plus, they receive no prizes if they win and bizarre punishments if they lose. Japanese game shows are essentially torture and probably violate at least half of the United Nation’s Declaration of Human Rights, but dangnabbit, it’s great TV.

You’d think adults smart enough to become celebrities would be able to tell the difference between candy and something that’s… not candy. But in Candy or Not Candy, everyday objects are made out of chocolate using an art form called sokkuri. Contestants don’t know if they’re biting into candy (fun!) nor not candy (dangerous!) until it’s in their mouths. Normally, people learn not to put objects in their mouths as children, but whatever. It’s Japanese television. Anything goes.

There’s nothing more cruel than making a hungry person watch you make food, so of course there’s a Japanese game show about doing just that. In this show, starving celebrity contestants watch chefs make two meals, then vote on which meal they want to eat. The winners get to eat the food, while the famished losers are forced to watch. It sounds like torture, but it also sounds like entertaining television. We can’t wait for the American version!

With Escape a Fart, what you see is what you get — and what you see is farts. On this simple show, a contestant farts, which is dyed yellow (obvs, because how else would you see the fart?) The contestant then has to try to spread their fart around the room as much as possible. Clearly, this game has no winners.

On Human Tetris, contestants have to shape their bodies to match cut-outs on a wall that’s slowly moving towards them. If they get it right, they win. If they don’t, they’ll either break the wall or fall off a platform into yellow water. At least, we hope it’s water. Then again, it’s a Japanese game show, so you never know.

The rules of Kiss My Ass are simple: girls put their butts into plastic with butt-shaped holes cut out in order to hide their identities. The guys then have to guess which one is their girlfriend’s butt by inspecting it. We’re guessing there have been quite a few couples who cite Kiss My Ass as the reason for their breakup.

Men will do anything to catch a glimpse of a naked girl. It’s a universal truth, and it’s also the premise of Strip the Girl. Contestants are put through different challenges in hopes that they might win a chance to see part of a boob. So basically it’s Puberty, The Game Show.

Awesome Movies Where The Hero Dies

No one wants the hero to die in the end, and everyone wants a happy ending. Those are the general audience expectations for a movie. Most people will hate a movie simply because the writers defied those rules. But, every now and again, an awesome movie appears that kills off the hero at the end and gets away with it. It hurts, of course, to see the hero die. It’s inevitable to feel sad, maybe even depressed about it, but somehow the death of the hero made sense within those awesome movies and required us to work through the emotions of the story.

Things don’t turn out too great for General Maximus Decimus Meridius at the beginning of this film. His life is turned upside down, and he’s made into a gladiator. By the end, he’s able to taste sweet revenge but not before succumbing to his wounds and traveling to the wheat fields of Elysium.

The Departed

Scorcese knows how to make a great gangster film, and this movie is no exception. Though, the sudden and violent shoot-out at the end, resulting in the killing of the main characters hits you where it hurts; it almost couldn’t have ended any other way in retrospect.

The Shining

Jack Torrance is an author who needs a little peace and quiet to get his book completed, so he takes his family to an empty hotel to see it through. Unfortunately for his family, rather than writing the book, he goes insane and brutally attacks them. Still, while hunting down his son through a garden maze in a blizzard, he freezes to death.

Donnie Darko

It’s no secret this is a mind-bending movie. We’ll try to simplify it. Donnie believes he has to sacrifice himself to stop the impending apocalypse. So, of course, at the end of the movie, he dies.

Pan’s Labyrinth

This film reaches the tragic end of Ofelia being murdered by the very terrifying villain Vidal. But, as a result, she travels to the fantasy world where she becomes a queen.

The Hateful Eight

If you’re a character in a Tarantino movie, you’ll likely not make it out alive. This is especially true of The Hateful Eight. Trapped in a cabin and surrounded by a bad blizzard, Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson) and Sheriff Chris Mannix (Walter Goggins) receive mortal wounds but don’t let that stop them from seeking revenge against Daisy Domergue.

V for Vendetta

V’s primary goal is to inspire an uprising against a brutal totalitarian regime. He wishes to be a symbol of resistance rather than a crime-fighting vigilante. So, after he completes his quest for vengeance, he dies in the arms of Evey (Natalie Portman).

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

In this amazing science fiction action movie, the Terminator sent back to kill John Connor now has been sent back to rescue him from an even more powerful cyborg. When his mission is completed, the Terminator slowly descends into a vat of hot liquid with his thumb up in the air.

This tragic love story that needs no introduction follows poor painter Jack Dawson as he falls in love with the very wealthy Rose. We all know as the Titanic sinks, try as they might, Jack freezes to death in the cold Atlantic waters.

When his bride is murdered for assaulting an English officer, William Wallace starts a revolt against English King Edward I. We all wanted to see Wallace crush the English King under his foot in this film and might have even been tricked into thinking that was going to happen until reality set in and the truth came to light. Wallace is tortured to death while screaming, “Freedom!”

A Few Interesting Things About Celebs

Mistakes The Allies Made In World War 2

While the Allied forces during World War 2 eventually won the war, they made many considerable mistakes along the way. Rarely do we remember or care about the mistakes of the victors, but valuable lessons can be gleaned from them nevertheless. From the policy of appeasement to dropping the ball at Dunkirk to the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Allies were clearly not perfect and made plenty of mistakes along the road to victory. So, what were they? Well, get ready to go back in time, here are 25 Mistakes The Allies Made In World War 2.

The Failure of Appeasement

In the pre-war period of World War 2, Britain and France took on a policy of appeasement to stave off war. Knowing the European democracies didn’t want war, Hitler pushed their limits to see how much he could get away with. This policy became notorious when English Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain met with Hitler at Berchtesgaden and, without consulting the Czech government, essentially gave Hitler all of the Sudetenland. He came back to England declaring “Peace in our time,” but only made things worse. Hitler eventually dismembered all of Czechoslovakia.

Underestimating the Japanese

American racists’ beliefs about the Japanese were a big reason they weren’t ready for them before Pearl Harbor. American magazines and newspapers considered them inept, technologically backward, and “funny” people. They also thought they were physiologically incapable of being good aviators and that their inner ear was askew because their big sisters would bounce them around on their back.

Failure to Anticipate the German Blitz

Despite clear signs that Hitler was about to invade France through the Ardennes, France, and other Allied leaders totally ignored them, not believing Hitler would do it. Failure to anticipate Hitler’s actions led to one of the most devastating military defeats in the 20th century with Hitler unleashing a panzer offensive known as the blitzkrieg. Seven weeks later, Hitler toured Paris for the first time, taking a picture in front of the Eiffel Tower. To spite them, he forced France to surrender in the same carriage that Germany surrendered 22 years before.

The Failure to Attack Germany after They Invaded Poland

England and France assured Poland they would be protected if invaded, yet on September 1st, 1939, Germany invaded Poland and decimated their military with more than 2,000 tanks and 1,000 planes. Within 27 days, Warsaw surrendered. While England and France declared war on Germany in retaliation, they effectively did nothing afterward. The declaration was meaningless, and Poland ultimately remained occupied by Nazi forces until 1945.

Seizing the Initiative at Anzio

On January 22, 1944, British and American troops carried out an amphibious landing on the shores of Italy near Anzio and Nettuno. The German resistance was so light they were able to complete many of their objectives early, moving four miles inland that night. Clearly, the Germans were not ready for the invasion. However, rather than taking the initiative and moving further in toward Rome, the Allies waited and prepared. This proved costly and allowed the German commanders to prepare and lead a much more effective assault, resulting in four months of some of the bloodiest fighting in the war.

Churchill Sending Troops to Greece

In October 1940, Mussolini sent troops into Greece, triggering a wider-ranging conflict. While the Greeks pushed Mussolini back themselves, the Germans signaled invasion. Churchill, not wanting to lose Greek independence, offered assistance and sent Australian and New Zealander troops from Egypt. The German invasion totally overwhelmed Greek and British forces, and poor communication and bad infrastructure didn’t help. 50,000 British troops evacuated, leaving all their equipment behind, while 3,700 British and 15,000 Greek soldiers were killed. Churchill later admitted the decision was an error.Ike’s Early Errors.

Ike’s Early Errors

While General Eisenhower became one of the greatest leaders in World War 2, his early start in the war was met with many errors, including logistical messes, poor cooperation between English-American militaries, and failure to lead in combat operations. His British contemporary Field Marshal Alan Brooke was increasingly frustrated and critical of Eisenhower at this time, saying, “Nice chap, no general.”

Slow Development of Atomic Research

Albert Einstein wrote a letter to FDR in 1939, warning him about the dangers of uranium enrichment and how it could potentially be used as a bomb by the Germans. The Germans had discovered it and already had a head start. FDR responded cautiously, developing a committee to research the matter further, but the order to build an atomic bomb didn’t come until 1941. If the Germans hadn’t lost their physicists, many of them Jewish, and taken the gamble to develop the project further, it would have been too late, and they would have easily won World War 2.

No French Flanking During the German Blitzkrieg

Not only did the French fail to anticipate the German blitzkrieg strategy, their army was entirely disorganized and unprepared to counter it effectively. Blitzkrieg is severely vulnerable to counter-attacks and flanking. If the French had developed early flanking defenses like the Russians had, they wouldn’t have been conquered so easily.

Omaha Beach

Speaking of Omaha Beach, its invasion by Allied forces was not without serious problems. The Navy launched their landing crafts too far out at choppy sea, resulting in capsized vessels and extensive loss of men and equipment. In addition, the airborne fleet failed in its objective, leaving invading troops to be vulnerable, forcing them to hide behind the bodies of fallen comrades. Fortunately for the Allied forces, the Germans also made their fair share of mistakes.

While Dunkirk turned out to be a success story, rescuing hundreds of thousands of British soldiers from enemy territory, it was also a massive military disaster that almost left England defenseless and without an infantry. The 400,000 British troops stationed in Belgium were there to fight off the German invasion, but instead, they were left surrounded and practically powerless. Poor-planning, intelligence, and leadership put them in the awful Dunkirk situation. If Hitler had destroyed and captured the British men there, things may have turned out differently in the war.

Intelligence Failure of Pearl Harbor

Outside of racist assumptions about the people of Japan, the United States intelligence about the military capabilities of Japan was horribly out of date due to Japan’s intense secrecy and the US not having deep contacts on the ground. For instance, the US thought they lacked the fuel capacity to bring them in range of Pearl Harbor, that their torpedoes wouldn’t be ineffective in Pearl Harbor’s shallow waters, and that their airplanes were copies from other military forces.

Operation Market Garden

The brainchild of General Bernard Montgomery, Operation Market Garden was a massive operation that could have not only ended the war but drastically changed the European landscape, keeping the Soviets from taking over Berlin. The operation involved a narrow thrust into German lines rather than a wide offensive. For a time, it looked like the Allied forces victory was within grasp, but when they reached the route to Arnhem, everything fell apart, thousands were killed, and their troops were forced to retreat.

Not Fighting the Soviets

This one is definitely the most controversial. When Nazi Germany surrendered to the Allied forces, both General Patton and Winston Churchill already had their eyes set on the Soviet Union, fearing their growing dominance. Churchill had his war cabinet come up with intelligence and a plan to potentially strike against Soviet forces in Eastern Europe and drive them back. It was called Operation Unthinkable. The outlook, unfortunately, was not good. His cabinet told him the Soviets would likely bombard the UK with missiles and other advanced weaponry, so Churchill backed off and so did the Allies. The Iron Curtain fell quickly, allowing for a long, tense Cold War. Perhaps that was their greatest mistake?
