John Schneider released from jail after serving five hours

Lady Luck seems to have smiled on John Schneider while in prison. He only spent five hours in jail and was released due to overcrowding.

According to TMZ, Schneider was sentenced to three days in County lockup for failing to pay more than $150k in spousal support to his estranged wife. He checked in Tuesday morning and even posted a video as he drove there, encouraging fans to buy some of his gear.

The ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ star checked in at 10.20 AM and was released at 3:46 PM. While this sounds like celebrity justice, L.A. County jail is also known for shortening sentences of violent offenders due to overcrowding.

Though he is out, Schneider is not in the clear yet. As we reported, Schneider still has to do 240 hours of community service and complete a long list of financial obligations, or he’ll get an additional 5-day sentence. Or roughly 7-8 hours based on Tuesday’s brief stay.

According to court docs, Schneider has a long list of things to do before the end of 2018. If he fails, he will face more days in L.A. County jail. Among the things he has to do include: file tax returns for 2014 through 2016, fork over certain financial docs, and pay Elvira half of all the money he earns. Maybe it is a good idea to keep plugging his merchandise.

‘Modern Family’ likely to end after 10th season

Modern Family, ABC’s longest-running comedy, has been on the air for nine seasons. The series celebrated its 200th episode on Jan. 10, and it could be one of the last comedies to ever reach that number.

“I often joke to cast members as we introduce our 198th episode that if we were on Netflix, we would be in our 25th season and Manny would be in his early 40s by this point,” co-creator Christopher Lloyd told The Hollywood Reporter at the cake-cutting ceremony for the landmark episode.

Co-creators and showrunners, Christopher Lloyd and Steve Levitan confirmed that the show will be ending after it’s upcoming 10th season. To extend the comedy series past a 10th season would require the cast to negotiate expensive, new deals with ABC and 20th Century Fox Television as all the contracts for the ensemble cast come to an end then.

“If we can leave with most of our audience wanting more, I think that’s the right way to do it,” Levitan told THR. “Never say never, but I just can’t imagine that we’d go past that.”

At the show’s peak, the Pritchett family family attracted over 14 million views and won Outstanding Comedy Series at the Emmys for five straight years– a dramatic difference with it’s 200th episode earning only 5.8 million in viewership.

But the charm and likability of Modern Family has propelled it’s cast members, such as Sophia Vergara and Sarah Hyland, to new heights. Three members of the ensemble– Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, and Eric Stonestreet– have earned Emmys for their rolesThe show has won 22 Emmy wins in total for its crew and cast.

Modern Family airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.

Celebs expressing concern in wake of more police murders

Kim Kardashian and Drake have expressed concern over police violence.

After cameras caught footage of the shooting murders of two black men, Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, at the hands of police officers, a lone gunman set out on a mission to “kill white police officers.”

Micah Xavier Johnson, the sniper, shot and killed five Dallas police officers on Thursday.

Castile, who was a kitchen supervisor at a Montessori school, was pulled over for a tail light violation before being shot four times in the chest.

Castile, who had a licensed firearm on his person, was reportedly shot while reaching for his identification.

“This is real and I’m concerned. Concerned for the safety of my family, my friends and any human being that could fall victim to this pattern,” wrote Drake after viewing footage of Sterling being held down by Baton Rouge police and being shot in the chest. “It’s impossible to ignore that the relationship between black and brown communities and law enforcement remains as strained as it was decades ago.”

“I want my children to grow up knowing that their lives matter,” wrote reality star, Kim Kardashian. Kardashian is the mother of two children with African American rapper, Kanye West. “I do not ever want to have to teach my son to be scared of the police, or to tell him that he has †o watch his back because the people we are told to trust – the people who ‘protect and serve’ – may not be protecting him because of the color of his skin.”
